Brooklyn ~ Arboretum and Mini Downtown Session

I am friends with Brooklyn's mom and her sister was one of the very first seniors I photographed, so I was quite excited for this shoot! When the day came there was rain in the forecast, so we discussed rescheduling, but ultimately decided to go ahead and give it a try! I am so glad we did! A total of about 5 little drops fell and it ended up being the perfect fall day--warm, but not hot, and sunny with just enough clouds passing through to make the sun not too harsh. We even had some wind coming around now and then that created the windblown looks I love so much.

We started the session at Secrest Arboretum. Once I get my seniors set in a pose, I tell them I can guide them through head tilts and expressions and such--or they can improvise with each click if they feel comfortable doing that. Brooklyn was a pro at posing, so improvise away she did as I snapped away! Wow, was she ever good, at ease, and so much fun to photograph. I had an absolute blast during the session. Having a stunning model who is fully enjoying the camera sure made me one lucky photographer! She was an absolute rockstar in my viewfinder.

I also happened to love the outfits Brooklyn chose. The white dress was so dreamy and elegant in the shots with the marble table and bare branched trees in the background. She looked like she could be on the cover of a romance novel! The pink dress was as cute as could be and looked lovely with the flower blooms still sticking around in October. And the olive cargo pants and crop top was perfect for the golden hour glow with the tall brown-toned field. After we had our fill of the arboretum, we made our way downtown for a short shoot before sunset, just to add a bit of variety to the shots we got.

Once I got home, it was time for selecting and editing photos. Boy, did I have my work cut out for me with the amount of beautiful photographs that came up in my Adobe Lightroom program! But creating her gallery was a true joy and I couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out. For my blog, I try to showcase a nice mixture and limit the number of pics I post, but--oh, man--I wish I could have included every single shot I had in her gallery! There are many more just as gorgeous.

Besides being a wonderful model, Brooklyn is quite an accomplished student. She is plays Varsity Volleyball, is Student Body President, Vice President of NHS, Cover Editor and writer for her school newspaper, mentor/Secretary for Best Buddies, and active in NAACP. I am surprised she found time for a senior session, but am grateful that she did and I'm grateful as well that I got to be her senior photographer. Brooklyn, I wish you the very best senior year ever and am looking forward to hearing about college and beyond from your mom. I know you are headed to much success in whatever you do! And maybe some more time posing in front of the camera is in your future, too. I hope so as the camera certainly loves you!
