Abby ~ Arboretum

September 28, 2025

I captured some images of Abby when she was a younger ballerina for Ballet Wooster, so I was so happy to be contacted by her mom for her senior pics! Ballerinas know all about poise and grace and elegance--it is in their training and in their nature. So I knew this session would be amazing. And it truly was! I was extremely lucky to have such a beautiful subject and l was lucky with the weather, too! Lots of cloud coverage providing a soft natural filter from the sun, which I love.

We started the session with her French horn! It was my first time photographing a senior with a French Horn and I had such fun with the playful poses, showcasing the shiny gold and intricate loops of the instrument. After that, we caught the very last of the late summer blooms and I thought her jeans and brown lacy top gave early fall vibes--it was the perfect combination! And as a little side note, I was thrilled that I caught a few goldfish in one shot as Abby sat at the edge of the pond. Can you spot them?

The ballet shots were so dreamy. The butterfly bench is my favorite for ballet poses and I think you can see why! But I also found a bench with some pink flowers still in bloom and couldn't resist clicking away with my camera there. So glad I did! The result was just gorgeous!

We ended the session with Abby in her cute floral dress. So glad we still had enough flowers blooming to compliment the pink and yellow/gold petals gracing her white dress. Those blooms were gone within a week! It was just the perfect timing for this particular shoot. Abby was accompanied by her mother and one of her younger sisters as we meandered our way around the arboretum, and I have to say I got a real kick out of Abby's relationship with her sister. It made the shoot all the more fun! Her little sister was so supportive--telling her big sis she was beautiful and that she looked like a model! And I have to agree! At the end of the session, Abby gave her sister her phone and they took off laughing like they were up to something as I talked to Abby's mom. When they returned they showed me the hilarious pics they took--Abby in the most awkward and ridiculous poses. It was just so funny and sweet!

Abby is a senior at Norwayne High School. She plays the French horn, mellophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar, and piano! So to say she is musically inclined is an understatement! She has participated in marching band and concert band all four years, as well as jazz band for three years and has been a member of the Tri-County Honors band for three years.  She also plays French horn in her church brass ensemble. She enjoys Bible study, reading and jewelry making in her spare time. As mentioned earlier, this talented and accomplished young woman is a ballerina, having danced since first grade for Ballet Wooster and she will be Clara in this year's performance of the Nutcracker! Congrats to her on the principal dancer role! I think she will be the perfect Clara:)

I wish Abby all the best for the rest of her senior year and much success as she begins college life! Thank you, Abby, for allowing me to capture your senior portraits! You had me and my camera enamored with every click!
